Health information technology (health IT) can improve access to accurate and complete patient information and modernize care delivery. Adopting and optimizing the use of health IT involves consideration of several factors, including staff training, redesigning workflows, and security controls to safeguard patient privacy. The goal of this session is to highlight the core components of health IT and illustrate steps that small dental practices can take to protect electronic patient information. Attendees will gain knowledge about health IT and ways it can advance dental care.
